Aromatic blend for August | Comfortable summer nights with insect repellent

August 12th, 2019

August is the heart of summer!
In this season many of us go to the seaside or mountains on holiday.

Summer is the best time to recharge your mind and body, feeling the bright sunlight on your skin and enjoying the sense of nature! But in order to fully enjoy these blessings of the season you need to plan the best methods of sun protection and insect repellent.

Today, I’d like to introduce an aroma you can use without any worry to repel insects such as mosquitoes and ants.

Aromatic blend for August

Citronellal, one of the essential oil components, is known to have a strong insect-repellent action.
Lemon Eucalyptus (Eucalyptus citriodora), which contains more than 65% citronellal, has been shown to be effective in repelling insects.

The same research suggests that peppermint and lavender are also effective against mosquitoes.
Clove can be added to the blend as well, to give it an exotic aromatic ambience.

I added jasmine to this aromatic blend, to give you a sense of a tropical midsummer night.

The scent of jasmine does not have any special insect repellent effects, but it does have the effect of prolonging the blend, as it works as a scent retention material.

Material

  • Jojoba oil (5ml)
  • Essential oils:
    • Lemon Eucalyptus (40 drops)
    • Lavender (20 drops)
    • Peppermint (10 drops)
    • Jasmine (5 drops)
    • Clove (2 drops)

This time I made a blend with a very high concentration of essential oils. However, it was used as a candle! It is not intended to be applied to the body! !
