The easiest and most effective self-health care method – Aroma Bath

November 24th, 2016

An Aroma Bath is a great example of self-health therapy that can be easily enjoyed at home. We can use a mixture of aromatic salt and essential oils to make a calming, health-filled bath you can sink into after a hard day!

In general, essential oils have various effects on the mind and body, as the ingredients are taken into the body by aspiration from the nose and percutaneous absorption from the skin. Through bathing, the fragrance can easily reach the brain, throat and lungs. As the blood circulation improves, it becomes easier for the absorbed ingredients to travel around the body. This is how bathing utilizes the efficacy of essential oil for the mind and body.

The best ratio for making aroma bath salt is “a bit more salt, a bit less essential oil”

Making your own original bath salt is easy – you just have to mix natural salt with essential oils!

The following method is tailored towards the bath salts you generally find in the UK . If you have essential oils and natural salts, you can make any original bath salts according to your taste, so please give it a try!

How to make the most effective aromatic bath salt

    • When you take a bath every day (Hot water in a bath tub : about 130 liters, Water temperature : about 40 degrees, Bathing time: about 20 minutes):
Approximately 75~90g  (5 to 6 tablespoons) of natural salt (Epsom salt, Himalayan pink salt, Dead sea salt etc)
5-6 drops of essential oil tailored to your symptoms and/or preferences
    • When you take a bath 2 to 3 times a week  (Hot water in a bath tub: about 130 liters, Water temperature: about 40 degrees, Bathing time: about 20 minutes):
Approximately 180~200 g (12 to 13 tablespoons) of natural salt (Epsom salt, Himalayan pink salt, Dead sea salt etc)
5-6 drops of essential oil tailored to your symptoms and/or preferences

In my opinion the best ratio for making aromatic bath salts is “a bit more salt, a bit less essential oil”. It’s best to make a new mix of salt and essential oils each time you take an aroma bath to keep the scent feeling fresh.

Your favourite fragrance should be the basis for choosing the essential oils to go into your mix. You should also adjust the amount of salt according to how your body responds. Please drink lots of water at bath time too – this helps to increase the body’s metabolic rate and aids the detoxifying process.
